The club, which had already replaced conventional flares with cold spark effects years ago, is now taking a further step by completely eliminating this type of element.
Tropics has decided to permanently eliminate the use of flares and any type of pyrotechnic material, including so-called cold spark effects, starting from the 2026 season. This decision comes after a thorough reflection on safety in nightlife venues, reinforced by recent events that occurred in Europe during the Christmas celebrations.
A Responsible and Preventive Decision
Although in recent years Tropics had chosen to replace conventional flares with cold spark alternatives, considered safer, the club’s management has now decided to go one step further and completely dispense with this type of element, prioritizing prevention and safety.
“The safety of our customers and our team is above any visual effect,” says Teddy Law, CEO and owner of Tropics. “If there is even the slightest risk, no matter how small, it is not worth it. We prefer to stay ahead and act responsibly.”
Safety as a Pillar of the Tropics Project
Safety has always been one of the fundamental pillars of the Tropics project. The club has a team of more than 20 security professionals, as well as an access control team that receives continuous training and is prepared to act in the event of any type of incident, both at the entrances and inside the venue.
This comprehensive approach allows Tropics to anticipate situations, react quickly, and ensure a safe environment for customers, staff, and artists.
“Investing in training, personnel, and prevention is not optional — it is a responsibility,” says Teddy Law. “Our team is prepared to act in any situation, and decisions like this further strengthen that commitment.”
A Powerful Experience Without Unnecessary Risks
The removal of flares will not mean a loss of experience for the audience. Tropics will continue to invest in creative, technological, and innovative visual solutions that maintain the impact of the show without compromising safety. “Excitement does not have to be linked to fire,” concludes Law. “The future of nightlife lies in innovating in a smart, responsible, and safe way.”
